It was painted using watercolour crystals, called Brusho, that are dissolved in water but, due to variable solvency, give the lovely varied colours perfectly suited to an iris flower. These can be easily bleached and drawn into with pen, biro, crayon etc., so are more versatile than ordinary watercolour, it seems to me. This is one of my favourite studies, hope you like it too.
Chris, thank you for your thoughtful comment on my blog. I think I have explored every option possible including doing a full time course, although I couldn't afford to give up work (or if I did I couldn't afford to do the course! I'm currently looking to do an MA in contemporary textiles and have an interview next week so fingers crossed. Your painting of the irises is beautiful by the way!
ReplyDeleteDo hope you are accepted. Have you thought of part-time/hiours reduction? I did study tutoring at Durham Uni (where I did my Geography degree)to pay for my part-time degree. Sometimes I wasn't able to attend all the sessions due to work committments etc. but being p/t they were more accomadating/accepting. Glad you liked my iris-sorry about the typo's, even with my improved computing-due to the course- I still seem to manage to have more than anybody else!!!
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK! :-)
p.S.If you are accepted, your hard work will have all been worth while and you won't need to worry about a BA- an MA is better!!!!!
ReplyDeletePS I wonder where you are hoping to study your MA?
